Meditexts is a Social Enterprise.
Social Enterprises trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. They make their money from selling goods and services in the open market, but they reinvest their profits back into the business or the local community.
With Meditexts, £5 of the cost of every registration is donated to [affiliated charities] that support medical conditions, such as diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease, mental health or dementia. In fact, Meditexts is aimed at supporting anyone in society who is vulnerable, such as older people, and people with disabilities.
The Meditexts system is fully encrypted, secure and password-protected. The only person who can access your details is you.
Who founded Meditexts?
Meditexts was founded by Neil Fraser.
Neil has had Type 1 Diabetes for 25 years and is also allergic to penicillin. He has always been aware of the risks associated with his condition, and many other more serious conditions. He also knows that usually there are only one or two other people very close to the person with a condition who know their full medical details and what action to take in an emergency.
He wanted to develop a system where vital information about a person could be conveyed securely and instantly when required, anywhere and in any circumstances, by simply texting a number or providing it to the 999 operator.
The Meditexts text number is 60060.
